Roughly in the form of three cylinders covered with a double-skin facade, Küçükçekmece Municipality Building is willing to be the first public service building of Turkey that holds a green building certificate. This form brings a homogenous daylight distribution and a good passive ventilation to interiors. Utilizing other technologies, like reduced water consumption, using local materials etc., the building is targeting a BREEAM – VERY GOOD Certificate.

The transparent shell makes the interior facades visible during day time. This visibility has been carried to the night time by lighting up these interior facades by using uplights at the corridor area located in between the two facade layers. The corridor surrounding the presidential floor, is illuminated continiously, creating a glowing crown effect at the top of the building with the help of the architecture.

Dur to its functional importance, the parliement volume, which is another cylindirical mass inside the building, is illuminated by wall-washers mounted on the ceiling and thanks to the glass facade, it is perceived from the outside and has become a glowing element of the architecture.

Our team worked with the architectural, interior design and landscape design teams in order to lit up the building and its surroundings.
